At a young age, Helen Kish began modeling snow in the Colorado winters. While her brothers were making snowmen, she endeavored to sculpt the Blessed Mother. The love of making things with her hands (sculpting, primarily) continued to be her passion throughout school years into college and commercial art school. Predominantly a self-taught sculptor; Helen was blessed to study with Master Sculptor, Maestro Bruno Lucchesi for two summers in the late 1990's.
She has been married to her beloved husband and long time business partner Tamas for 55 years. While raising their three children, Helen began sculpting little figures which eventually turned into a small home business. She also sculpted and designed collectible figures/dolls which eventually turned into dolls for many commercial companies; such as the Pleasant Company (home of the American Girl doll), the Franklin Mint, San Francisco Music Box Co. and others. Eventually, Helen and Tamas started their own business, Kish & Company, which produced a line of collector dolls annually for several decades. (See Legacy Shop, Gallery, Archives)
After returning to the traditional Catholic Faith of her youth, Helen's artistic focus returned to religious figures. To date, Helen and Tamas have designed and produced half a dozen bas relief tiles depicting Saints and Our Blessed Mother. There are a number of figures in various stages of completion in Helen’s home studio, in addition to commissioned work. They have also produced finished pieces in resin in their Littleton studio. as well as having some pieces cast in real bronze at Art Castings in Loveland, Colorado. All pieces are by commission and strictly limited. These sculptures can be found under the title ‘Eye on Eternity Studio’.
